Radio Modems

The EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U card is a multiband, multiservice WAN card. Its primary application is WAN connectivity as a backup datalink for critical data applications and as a primary WAN connection.

The EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U card supports the ISR G2 platforms (the Cisco 1900 series, the Cisco 2900 series and the Cisco 3900 series).

The EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U card houses one cellular modem for connection to a wireless WAN.

The Cisco 3G WWAN EHWICs are the first enterprise-class 3G WWAN solution. Suitable for both backup and primary applications, these cards support the latest 3G standards (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access [HSPA+] and Evolve-Data Optimized [EV-DO] Rev A) and are backward-compatible with High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA), Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS), Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE), General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), and EV-DO Rev 0/1xRTT. The Cisco 3G WWAN EHWICs Series has two variants:

• Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and UMTS models are based on 3GPP, and they support 3.7G HSPA+, 3.5G HSPA (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+/HSPA)), UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS.
• Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) models are based on 3GPP2, and they support EV-DO Rev A/Rev 0 and 1xRTT.

The Cisco® Connected Grid Cellular Modules include 4G LTE and 4G LTE Advanced for the Cisco 1000 Series Connected Grid Routers (CGR 1000 Series). Our ruggedized cellular modules and CGR 1000 routers together provide a versatile communications platform for a diverse set of Field Area Network (FAN) and Internet-of-Things (IoT) deployments. They also support and extend utility applications such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distribution Automation (DA), integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), Street Lighting and remote workforce automation.

Cisco Connected Grid Cellular Modules deliver service-provider-based (public) wireless WAN connectivity for Cisco 1000 Series Connected Grid Routers (CGR 1000). These modules support, 4G LTE Advanced, 4G LTE, High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+), and Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Rev A. The Connected Grid Cellular Modules support the latest Third-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 9 Category 4 LTE standards. The latest release of CGR 1000 Cisco IOS^® Software supports one or two cellular modules in the CGR 1000 starting with IOS Release 15.6(3)M1.

The Cisco Wireless Gateway for LoRaWAN supports LoRaWAN Class A, B, and C device types, spreading factors, Adaptive Data Rates (ADR), channel diversity, integrated GPS time synchronization, and geolocation with hardware support for TDOA and RSSI based trilateration. Two models are available for domestic and international customers:

• IXM-LPWA-800-16-K9: Operates on the subsets of 863 - 870 MHz ISM frequencies
• IXM-LPWA-900-16-K9: Operates on the subsets of 902 - 928 MHz ISM frequencies
