Plugable's HDMI to VGA cable connects your HDMI capable computer to a VGA monitor, projector, or other display device. The robust flat cable prevents tangling and can easily be tucked away behind your display and computer.

Our cable's CH7101A Digital to Analog chipset converts from the source's digital HDMI signal to an analog VGA signal both business class displays without a HDMI input, as well as older monitors with only a VGA connection. This conversion is performed inline without any external convert boxes or power sources necessary.* Please note, while HDMI can carry audio the VGA is not compatible with audio, a separate audio cable

(*Most HDMI outputs will provide enough power to run the digital to analog conversion, some extremely low power devices may not be compatible with this adapter cable ).

Compatible Systems
For both graphics adapter outputs to function, system manufacturer must have routed two DisplayPort lines to the Thunderbolt 3 port(s). This is an engineering decision made by your system manufacturer. Currently only Dell and HP Thunderbolt 3 systems meet this requirement but more compatible Thunderbolt 3 systems are expected in the future.

Non-compatible Systems
Will not function when attached to a non-Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port

As mentioned above, most current non-Dell, non-HP Thunderbolt 3 systems are not compatible due to a limited number of DisplayPort lines routed to the Thunderbolt 3 port.

Usage with non-DisplayPort Displays
Conversion to HDMI/DVI /VGA can only be done with active adapters (not inexpensive DP++ passive adapters).

Note: Apple has limited the 4K abilities of the 12"" MacBook to only support 30Hz.

Incompatible Systems

Most current phones and Android tablets with USB-C ports do not support Alt Mode video output.

ASMedia USB 3.1 controllers do not support Alt Mode video at this time.

Motherboards with dual USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports are limited to a single Alt Mode output; only one Alt Mode adapter supported per system.

Passive adapters rely on the DisplayPort output of the host system to provide the necessary signaling to support an HDMI display.
