Plugable's Mini DisplayPort to HDMI passive adapter (MDPM-HDMIF) allows you to connect from a Thunderbolt 2 or Mini Dual-Mode DisplayPort (DP++) output on your laptop, desktop, or tablet to virtually any HDMI-enabled display.

Passive adapters rely on the DisplayPort output of the host system to provide the necessary signaling to support an HDMI display.

The adapter supports resolutions up to 4K 30Hz (3840x2160 @ 30Hz). All resolutions below 4K-such as 2560x1440 and 1080p-are supported at 60Hz refresh rate.

Apple Notes: To use a DVI display with MacBook systems, the display must support HDCP copy protection. Some older DVI displays do not support HDCP and will result in unusable behavior. This requirement is only enforced in OS X, as BootCamp Windows installations behave correctly with non-HDCP DVI displays.

Incompatible Systems

Most current phones and tablets with USB-C ports do not support Alt Mode video output.

ASMedia USB 3.1 controllers do not support Alt Mode video at this time.

Not compatible with Apple Cinema Displays and 2560x1440 monitors which require a dual-link DVI connection

The Fine Print
Designed for office work using web and productivity apps-like Google Docs, the Windows Office Suite, and internet use in general-these adapters are not recommended for gaming, graphics-intensive, or design work. This adapter doesn't support playback of HDCP-protected content on sites like Netflix and Hulu. On Mac, screen rotation is not available and clamshell mode is only available on macOS 12 when the laptop is connected to its power adapter. Silicon Motion (SMI) driver download is required for Windows. SMI Instant View driver is required for Mac.
