  • Cubro Network Visibility Network Tapping Device - Network Tapping, Network Traffic Monitoring - 3 - Optical Fiber - 100GBase-X

An optical TAP gives you real-time monitoring access to a physical optical data link without interfering it. Due to the fact that the optical TAP is fully passive (no power supply needed) it is no risk to put it in an active link.

The only thing that needs to be considered is that the TAP brings you additional optical power loss on the active link depending on the splitting ratio used. Except for this, the equipment is fully transparent.

The unit is equipped with standard LC adaptors and is available as singlemode (1310/1550nm) or multimode (850/1300nm) version.

The singlemode TAP is available in 80/20, 50/50 splitting ratios as standard. There are other ratios possible, please contact us for confirmation.

The multimode TAP can be 50/50 or 70/30 as standard. In case other ratios are needed, please contact us.

It is possible to build up to 3 untis in the optional available rackmount kit which will be 19" and 1U height.

Due to the full transparency you can use our optical TAPs for all protocols or data rates up to 100 Gbit.

Every used splitter inside the optical TAP is carefully handled and insertion loss is measured before the unit leaves to the customer.

  • Cubro Network Visibility Network Tapping Device - Network Tapping, Optical Measurement - 6 - Optical Fiber - 100 Gigabit Ethernet

Cubro Optical TAPs offer real-time monitoring access to a physical optical data link with zero performance degradation or disruption. Since an optical TAP is fully passive (no power supply needed) there is no risk associated with placing them inline on an active link. The TAPs do introduce additional optical power loss on the active link which varies with the split ratio used; otherwise, the TAP is completely transparent to the network.

Cubro Optical TAPs feature LC connectors and are available in Singlemode (1310/1550) fiber or Multimode (850/1300nm) fiber. For Multimode both 50/125µ and 62.5/125µ fiber types are available. The standard split ratio for a Singlemode TAP is 80/20 with 50/50 also available. The standard split ratio for Multimode is 50/50 with 70/30 as an available option as well. Other split ratios can be produced upon request.

Cubro offers a rack mounting bracket kit that allows for up to three TAP units to be mounted in a 1RU rack space. Cubro Optical TAPs can be used for all protocols and data rates (up to 100 Gbps) due to their fully transparent design. Every splitter used in the optical TAP is expertly handled and insertion loss is measured for each individual TAP produced. The test results for measured insertion loss are included with the TAP

  • Cubro Network Visibility MTP TAP 40-100Gbit, Dualport, Multimode, 19" 1/3U Height - Fiber Optic Cable Breakage Monitor/Detector, Network Tapping - Optical Fiber - 40 Gigabit Ethernet, 100 Gigabit Ethernet

Cubro's MTP/MPO TAPs are passive fibre breakout TAPs that make an identical copy of your network's data, allowing your monitoring tools to see every bit, byte and packet. The small form of the TAPs allows to combine up to three different Slimline (different splitting ratio, or different connectors) TAPs in one RU.

The challenge of tapping a 40 Gbit link or a 100 Gbit link based on a QSFP is that the QSFP is defined as a quad channel interface (Q = quad), thus the link is actually 4 x 10 Gbit or 4 x 25Gbit respectively. These 4 x 10 or 4 x 25 Gbit links are in a type of trunk where the Ethernet frame/ packet is being divided into four trunks sent in parallel over each of the four fibre links.

The reassembly of the divided frames/packets is handled by a special Layer 1 protocol at the receiving end. The TAP is connected inline with the 8-fibre MTP link. The MTP/ MPO monitor ports feed a copy of the traffic on the link to a set of QSFP receivers on a Cubro Network Packet Broker. The features of the Cubro Packetmaster and Sessionmaster Network Packet Brokers allow the traffic to be reassembled and separated down to 10G or 1G via traffic filters.
