TRENDnet's Gigabit PoE Splitter, model TPE-104GS, networks a non-PoE device in a remote location using a PoE network connection. The TPE-104GS splits a Gigabit PoE connection into separate power and Gigabit data sources. A convenient dip-switch adjusts output power to 5V, 9V, or 12V in order to match non-PoE device power requirements. The included combination 2.0 and 2.5mm jumper cable provides greater device compatibility.

These splitters are mainly used for powering legacy devices which are not POE enabled but instead get their power from a DC connector. The POE Y Splitters are useful when two devices need remote power, one device being POE enabled to accept power thru the RJ45 and the other device requiring DC power thru a DC connector. They accept data-in to a shielded RJ45 Jack and provide data-out and POE power on the shielded RJ45 output jack. They work by supplying power on the unused Ethernet pins 4,5(V+) and 7,8(V-). They have various protections for surge, short circuit and overload. The units have a power output of up to 35W. The input and output are isolated so the units can accept minus voltage on input and can be wired for positive voltage on the output for those systems which are negative voltage based.

The DCDC converter supplies 35W per POE channel. One POE channel is using pins 4,5,7,8 and the other POE channel utilizes pins 1,2,3,6. By splitting the power onto separate POE channels, the device can achieve 70W total supplied power to the end device. The TP-DCDC-4856GD-VHP has separate LED indicators for indicating which 802.3at channel is being used by the client. The RIGHT LED indicates POE Channel 1 and the LEFT LED indicates POE Channel 2.
The TP-DCDC-4856GD-VHP has been qualified by Axis to be used with their Q60 series of PTZ cameras. The unit can be used with any 802.3at device as it will supply 35W to any 802.3at POE channel detected. If two channels are detected on the client then 70W power will be supplied.
