Four outlets are surge-only to connect peripherals not requiring battery backup, such as a printer or desk lamp. One battery- and surge-supported master outlet controls the energy-saving outlets and reports the wattage drawn by the PC or other connected device. If the device connected to the master outlet shuts down or enters standby, the three energy-saving outlets also turn off.
