Cartridges have been optimized and tested extensively in IBM LTO tape drives and tape libraries to help maximize performance, data integrity and data longevity. They are designed to withstand the rigors of normal use in both stand-alone and automated environments. Additionally, each cartridge is embedded with an LTO cartridge Memory (LTO-CM) chip, which enables fast, simultaneous transfer of cartridge-dependent data with IBM tape drives during loading and unloading to help further increase reliability. Fujifilm's Barium Ferrite technology has enabled LTO Ultrium 9 to achieve a native/compressed capacity of 18.0/45.0TB by recording 8,960 data tracks within 12.65mm tape width. With the utilization of multi-channel recording technology, LTO 9 features native/compressed transfer rates of up to 400/1000MB per second.
