Allied Telesis UMC200 and UMC2000 USB media converters are the perfect fit for today's USB-A technology, as well as for next-generation USB-C specifications. This allows the UMC200/2000 Series to take advantage of technology in both older and newer notebooks, desktop PCs and digital devices.

Overview

The current standard USB connector is USB Type-A. Even as the world has moved from USB 1 to USB 2 and on to modern USB 3 devices, that connector has stayed the same. Since it only plugs in one way, it has always been necessary to make sure it is correctly oriented before plugging in.

However, with USB-C, both ends of the cable are the same, allowing for reversible plug orientation. It can also be plugged in upside down as it will function both ways.

The time of differently-shaped connectors for differently-sized devices is coming to a close. USB Type-C is a new connector standard, and it is very small-about one third the size of the old USB Type-A plug.

The UMC Series comes with two types of USB cables, allowing for use with older USB-A and the new USB-C products.

Extended network

UMC Series converters are ideal for extending a fast Ethernet or Gigabit network. The series is designed to be a mobile system to extend the distance of a network by utilizing a USB-A or USB-C port with connectivity to fiberoptic cabling. The UMC Series features a USB port (Type A or C) and either a fixed fiber port (SC, ST or LC) or an SFP port which is capable of accepting a 100MB or 1000MB SFP.

VLAN support

Many new backbone switch products now support the industry-standard IEEE 802.1Q specification for Virtual LANs (VLANs), which send extra-long data packets on the network.

Some media converters don't support this feature and discard extralong packets-but UMC200/2000 converters are fully compatible with these long packets, making them the perfect solution for today's modern networks.

Small and flexible

The small size and external power of the UMC Series allows them to be used almost anywhere.

eBridge100RM is a versatile dual solution Ethernet receiver/media converter which transmits data at 100Mbps full duplex and power over Coax cable or extended CAT5e cable in a PoE+ compliant format. The eBridge100RM is powered via a PoE midspan such as the Altronix NetWay series or by an endspan. The receiver passes the PoE(+) compliant power over cable to the eBridge100TM/eBridge100ST transceiver which in turn passes this power to an enabled IP Camera/device. These plug and play units facilitate cost effective solutions for IP devices that need to be installed at distances greater than 100m. They also provide a simple way to replace legacy analog products with new IP devices over existing coax or structured cable.

The eBridge100SPR passes data and sends power over the coax to the eBridge200WPM 2-port Outdoor Transceiver. Data transmission and power over the Coax is possible up to 300m. Maximum range from head end to the PoE camera/device is 500m taking into consideration that up to 100m of structured cable may be deployed at each end. Built in IP management allows for remote camera reset, monitoring and reporting via various IP protocols.

eBridge100ST EoC transceiver transmits data at 100Mbps, Full Duplex over Coax cable to a paired eBridge receiver and provides power in a PoE+ compliant format to an enabled device/camera. The eBridge receiver is available in various options (see compatibility list below/Altronix.com) and is powered by an external midspan, such as the Altronix Netway series. The receiver passes PoE+ power over the same coax cable to the eBridge100ST transceiver, which, in turn, passes this power to an enabled IP camera/device. These plug and play units facilitate cost-effective solutions for IP devices. They can be installed at distances greater than 300m. They provide a simple way to replace legacy analog products with new IP devices over existing coax. eBridge100ST is compatible with the following Altronix receivers: eBridge100RM, eBridge400PCRM, eBridge800PCRM or eBridge1600PCRM.

Altronix eBridge100TM EoC hardened transceiver transmits data at 100Mbps, Full Duplex over Coax cable to a paired eBridge receiver and provides power in a PoE/PoE+ compliant format to an enabled device/camera. The eBridge receiver is available in various options and is powered by an external midspan or endspan. The receiver passes PoE/PoE+ power over the same coax cable to the eBridge100TM transceiver, which, in turn, passes this power to an enabled IP camera/device. These plug and play units facilitate a cost-effective, simple way to replace legacy analog products with new IP devices over existing coax up to 300m. When paired with the eBridge100RM EoC Receiver, the eBridge100TM will pass 100Mbps full duplex data and PoE/PoE+ over CAT5e (or higher) up to 500m.
