SERIAL TO FIBER OPTIC CONVERTERS

Standards can be mixed and matched so RS-232 devices can be connected to RS-422/485 devices, replacing a converter and isolator. When working with RS-485 signals, B&B Electronics' Automatic Send Data control eliminates the need for driver software. Serial connections are on terminal blocks; multimode fiber side has two ST connectors. Requires external power supply not included.

With a pair of these serial to fiber converters, any two pieces of asynchronous serial equipment can communicate at half or full duplex over two fibers at rates up to 460 kbps for RS-422/485 or 115.2 kbps for RS-232. Fiber lines are inherently resistant to EMI/RFI and transient surges, so they are ideal for data communications near heavy electrical equipment and other electrical or radio interference.

The EKI-2525/2528 supports a Fast Ethernet solution. The power is a +12 ~ 48 VDC redundant input design, and is secured with a double protection mechanism: Power Polarity Reverse Protect and an Overload Current Resetable Fuse. The former tolerates reverse power wiring while the later secures the system from overload currents. As the power supply turns normal, EKI-2525/2528 will automatically get back to work. Each port of EKI-2525/2528 has 2 LED's to show the link status transmission speed and collision status. It also provides a relay output for an event alarm. In the event of a power failure, the built-in LED will activate the alarm to notify administrators. Engineers can simply verify the hardware status by checking the LED, and have troubleshooting easy and quick. EKI-2525/2528 comes with compact metal housing that rates IP30 to help against from dusty industrial environments.

The EKI-2525LI is a Fast Ethernet solution. Its power runs on 12 ~ 48 VDC with redundant input design plus one DC power jack, being secured with Power Polarity Reverse Protection. Each EKI-2525LI port has 2 LEDs to show link status and transmission speed. It also provides a relay output for an event alarm. In the event of power failure, the built-in LED will activate the alarm to notify administrators. Engineers can simply verify the hardware status by checking the LED, which makes troubleshooting quick and easy. EKI-2525LI comes with a compact metal to fulfill narrow environment. Its IP40 rated housing protects against dusty industrial environments.
