HID Global's OMNIKEY® product brand, one of the world's leading manufacturers of innovative smart card readers, has developed a portable USB smart card reader. The OMNIKEY 6121 is a fully functional smart card reader for SIM-sized smart cards and is especially well-suited for use with mobile devices.

Applications for this reader include the download of GSM applications from the internet to the SIM card, W-LAN authentication, secure PC log-on, PKI for mobile users, digital signature, secure mobile banking and online transactions, loyalty programs, healthcare solutions and many more applications in the future.

The OMNIKEY® 5427CK is available in two product variants. The OMNIKEY® 5427 CK standard reader is the ultimate choice to support a broad variety of low and high frequency credentials such as iCLASS Seos®, iCLASS SE®, iCLASS®, MIFARE®, Indala Prox, and HID Prox.

In addition, the OMNIKEY® 5427 CK with Bluetooth interface allows customers to leverage their mobile access credentials to access computer, network or cloud by using their mobile phone.

Based on CCID interface, the OMNIKEY® 5427CK can be integrated without the need to install or maintain drivers. This eliminates complex software lifecycle management issues in the field and accelerates time to market.

With the keyboard wedge functionality, customers can retrieve data from a card that is presented to the reader and directly input the card data into an application using keystroke emulation. This eliminates the need for them to manually enter the card data into an application. The reader includes an integrated, easy-to-use web-based management tool that enables intuitive browser-based configuration with no need for training.

Supporting low and high frequency credentials as well as HID Mobile Access Solutions via Bluetooth and NFC within a single product, the OMNIKEY 5427CK reader enables seamless migration in mixed technology environments.

The HID Indala Mid-Range reader, with FlexSecur® technology, is designed for applications requiring a longer read range of up to 12 inches. All HID Indala 125 kHz Proximity Readers feature FlexSecur technology, which provides an added level of access system security through a verification process at the reader. A unique HID Indala product feature, FlexSecur screens out unauthorized cards prior to sending access control data to the host system.

This additional verification step enhances the security of your access system in two ways:

• The entire card data field is encrypted prior to programming the card. Therefore, the data on the card cannot be decoded to determine the actual information on the card. Only the reader is able to decrypt the data and transmit it to the access control system.
• Cards and readers can be programmed uniquely for each site, protecting the end user against unauthorized entry attempts by using cards from another facility. Again, a feature unique to the HID Indala product line.
