The UCS C240 M5 LFF server extends the capabilities of Cisco's Unified Computing System portfolio in a 2U form factor with the addition of the Intel® Xeon® Processor Scalable Family, 24 DIMM slots for 2666 MHz DDR4 DIMMs and capacity points up to 128GB, up to 6 PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 slots, and up to 12 front-facing internal LFF drives. The C240 M5 LFF server also includes one dedicated internal slot for a 12G SAS storage controller card.

The C240 M5 server includes a dedicated modular LAN on motherboard (mLOM) slot for installation of a Cisco Virtual Interface Card (VIC) or third-party network interface card (NIC) without consuming a PCI slot, in addition to 2 x 10 Intel x550 10Gbase-T embedded (on the motherboard) LOM ports.

The Cisco UCS C240 M5 server can be used standalone, or as part of the Cisco Unified Computing System, which unifies computing, networking, management, virtualization, and storage access into a single integrated architecture enabling end-to-end server visibility, management, and control in both bare metal and virtualized environments.

The UCS C240 M6 SFF server extends the capabilities of Cisco's Unified Computing System portfolio in a 2U form factor with the addition of the 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors (Ice Lake), 16 DIMM slots per CPU for 3200-MHz DDR4 DIMMs with DIMM capacity points up to 256 GB. The maximum memory capacity for 2 CPUs is listed here:

• 8 TB (32 x 256 GB DDR4 DIMMs), or
• 12 TB (16 x 256 GB DDR4 DIMMs1 and 16 x 512 GB Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory Modules (PMEMs)).

The UCS C220 M5 SFF server extends the capabilities of Cisco's Unified Computing System portfolio in a 1U form factor with the addition of the Intel® Xeon® Processor Scalable Family, 24 DIMM slots for 2666MHz DIMMs and capacity points up to 128GB, two 2 PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 slots, and up to 10 SAS/SATA hard disk drives (HDDs) or solid state drives (SSDs). The C220 M5 SFF server also includes one dedicated internal slot for a 12G SAS storage controller card.

The C220 M5 server included one dedicated internal modular LAN on motherboard (mLOM) slot for installation of a Cisco Virtual Interface Card (VIC) or third-party network interface card (NIC), without consuming a PCI slot, in addition to 2 x 10Gbase-T Intel x550 embedded (on the motherboard) LOM ports.
