Juniper Networks CTP Series Circuit to Packet Platforms provide the advanced technology and features required to reliably transport time- division multiplexing and other circuit-based applications across next-generation IP/MPLS networks. The CTP Series has the field-proven flexibility, performance and reliability required for circuit applications.

The CTP Series technology includes many advanced clocking options and per-circuit buffers to enable end-to-end timing and the removal of jitter to create a psuedowire across the IP/MPLS network. The CTP Series enables customers to connect digital and analog voice applications easily and reliably across the IP network using circuit emulation over IP, bringing them the advantages of converged multiservice IP networking without the complexities and cost of upgrades required for VoIP. The CTP Series bridges the legacy and IP world and provides many unique features that enable cost reduction by eliminating point-to-point circuits and convergence of all applications onto one IP/MPLS network.

With the ongoing deployment of IP networks, the efficiency and cost-savings gains of IP are being realized for a variety of applications and functions. Largely left out of this evolution have been the circuit-based applications such as time- division multiplexing (TDM) leased line and voice private branch exchange (PBX) connections, serial encryption connections, and analog and digital radio systems networking, because their synchronous transport requirements are not addressed by a packet-based network. The Juniper Networks® CTP Series Circuit to Packet Platforms enable customers to connect these circuit-based applications easily and reliably across the IP network, bringing them the advantages of converged multiservice IP networking.

The CTP Series includes the Juniper Networks CTP151, CTP2008, CTP2024, CTP2056 Circuit to Packet Platforms, and the Juniper Networks CTPView Network Management System. The products are designed for government agencies, enterprises and service providers running circuit-based applications and range in size, port capacity and redundancy options.

Data centers are expanding rapidly as they adopt more cloud services, creating a need for higher network bandwidth per rack. As a result, 25GbE and 100GbE have become the dominant port speeds in most data centers. The tremendous growth of cloud services, coupled with the widespread adoption of overlay technologies, has created a need for highly agile switching platforms that can satisfy the demands of these evolving data centers.

The high-performance Juniper Networks ® QFX5120 Ethernet Switch fits the bill, providing the foundation for dynamic data centers. Native 25GbE ports and 100GbE uplinks satisfy growing demand for 100GbE spine ports to support all server access speeds, including 10GbE and 25GbE. The QFX5120 also supports a diverse set of switching architectures, including data center fabric, Layer 3, and spine-and-leaf deployments, enabling users to easily adapt and evolve as requirements change over time.

Architecture and Key Components

The QFX5120 includes native 25GbE (fiber only) and 40GbE or 100GbE fixed-configuration options with rich L2, L3, Ethernet VPN (EVPN), and MPLS features. The QFX5120 runs the same reliable, high-performance Juniper Networks Junos ® operating system used by all Juniper Networks QFX Series Switches and EX Series Ethernet Switches, SRX Series Services Gateways, and Juniper Networks routers, ensuring a consistent control plane feature implementation and user experience across the entire Juniper infrastructure.

Product Options

The QFX5120 switch is a compact, 1 U platform that provides wire-speed packet performance, very low latency, and a rich set of Junos OS features. In addition to a high-throughput Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE), the performance of the QFX5120 control plane is enhanced with a powerful 2.2 GHz quad-core Intel CPU with 16 GB of memory and 64 GB SSD storage.

As the first member of the QFX5120 line, the QFX5120-48Y is a 25GbE/100GbE data center access switch offering 48 small form-factor pluggable plus (SFP+) transceiver ports and eight quad SFP (QSFP28) ports that can be configured as 8x40GbE or 8x100GbE ports, with an aggregate throughput of 2 Tbps or 2 Bpps per switch. For added flexibility, each QSFP28 port can also be configured as 4x25GbE ports using breakout cables, while each QSFP+ port can be configured as 4x10GbE ports using breakout cables, increasing the number of supported 25GbE and 10GbE ports per switch to 80.

Featuring complete Layer 2 and basic Layer 3 switching capabilities, the Juniper Networks® EX2200 line of fixed configuration Ethernet switches satisfies the branch and low-density wiring closet connectivity requirements of today's high-performance businesses. Four platform configurations are available offering 24 and 48 10/100/1000BASE-T ports with or without Power over Ethernet (PoE). The PoE-enabled EX2200 models include a maximum system budget of 405W to deliver up to 15.4 watts of standards-based 802.3af Class 3 PoE on all ports for supporting networked devices such as telephones, video cameras, and wireless LAN (WLAN) access points in converged networks. The EX2200 PoE-enabled switches are also capable of supporting standards-based 802.3at PoE+ for powering networked devices like multiple radio IEEE 802.11n wireless access points and video phones that may require more power than is available with IEEE 802.3af.

EX2300 and EX2300-C Ethernet Switches deliver a compact, high-density, cost-effective solution for small network environments where space and power are at a premium. Featuring a small, 1U footprint, the EX2300 and EX2300-C are ideal for access-layer deployments in micro branches, retail and workgroup environments, and converged network access in larger networks.

The EX2300 offers 24 10/100/1000BASE-T ports in a single platform, while the EX2300-C offers 12 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. Both models are available with or without IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) or 802.3at PoE+ for powering attached network devices. Optional front panel 10GbE uplink ports support connections to higher-layer devices.

Both models support Juniper's unique Virtual Chassis technology, enabling up to four of the switches to be interconnected and managed as a single device. Both models can also act as satellite devices in a Juniper Junos Fusion Enterprise deployment, which combines large numbers of access switches into a logical management platform.
