Our industrial RS-232 to RS-422 and RS-485 converters are ideally suited for the automation market and other "control panel" applications. Terminal blocks are used to input the power and data signals. Most offer isolation and are hardened for use in areas exposed to temperature extremes. The EMC and emissions specifications run the gambit from light industrial EN 61000-6-1to heavy industrial EN 61000-6-2 with IEEE 1613. Each product also carries a UL listing or recognition. 2 and 3-way isolated optical repeater converts, protects & extends data signals

Optical isolation protects your devices from transient surges and ground loops on your data line. The optical repeaters/isolators add 4,000 feet (1.2 km) and another 32 nodes to an RS-485 data circuit. By configuring one side as RS-422 and the other as RS-485, the models can act as a converter to allow your four wire RS-422 equipment to talk to a 2-wire RS-485 device.

These port-powered RS-232 to 422/485 converters change TD and RD RS-232 lines to 422/485 signals. All of our serial port converters feature Automatic Send Data Control. SDC automatically enables the RS-485 driver when data is present on the RS-232 side. Control of the driver is automatic at rates up to 115.2 kbps.

The 485SD9TB is a port-powered two-channel RS-232 to RS-485 converter. It converts the TD and RD RS-232 lines to balanced half-duplex RS-485 signals. The unit is powered from the RS-232 data and handshake lines whether the lines are high or low. An external power supply can be connected to two terminals on the RS-485 connector if no handshake lines are available. The 485SD9TB has a DB-9 female connector on the RS-232 side and a terminal block connector on the RS-485 side.
