The ICY DOCK ToughArmor EX MB492SKL-B dual bay 2.5" mobile rack is built specifically for industrial small form factor systems that require exceptional drive security. The ICY DOCK MB492SKL-B supports both SAS and SATA hard drives/SSDs at 6Gbps and is backwards compatible to 3 Gbps drives and hosts. The MB492SKL-B fits two drives in a single 3.5" front bay making it the perfect storage device for enterprise small form factor applications. It maximizes space in industrial small PCs, surveillance, embedded systems, automation systems, aerospace systems and mobile DVR systems.

Removable Design with Maximum Protection

The removable drive tray design supports hot-swap and makes maintenance completely hassle free which is extremely beneficial in the case of a hard drive failure. It reduces overall down time which is precious for time sensitive applications. The trays are also designed to accommodate 7 to 9.5mm height hard drive and SSD, creating dual 2.5" hot swap bays for any standard SATA/SAS hard drives and SSDs.

The metal key lock on the tray prevents unauthorized access your drive. The unique thumb screw locks the metal tray into the device to minimize the drive tray vibration, and to prevent accidental drive tray ejection providing the ultimate protection for your hard drives or solid-state drives.

The ToughArmor EX MB492SKL-B is an ideal mobile rack for RAID configurations for systems that require higher drive security and have limited space to work with such as mobile systems and embedded systems.

Convenient Utility with Full Metal Construction

The front of the ToughArmor EX includes a status LED when the drive is powered on, off and being accessed. Active Power Technology (APT) allows the status LED to be on only when a hard drive is inserted into the enclosure. We have also included drive ID plugs so user with multiple MB492SKL-B units in their system can give each drive tray a unique ID number.

External docking stations are popular because of its flexibility and compatibility. However, because it is for external use, the interface limits the transfer speed of your hard drive while only allowing one to be use at a time. In a standard computer case, there are several 5.25" bays usually reserved for your DVD ROM drive, however, will not naturally fit with your 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives without some assistance. We also want to create a much faster and smoother transition from external to internal setups. Using the MB971SP-B DuoSwap, you will save precious desktop space by integrating both 3.5" & 2.5" slots into a single 5.25" bay. This gives you the ability to expand and easily go from your external docking station to your computer in just seconds.

In order to provide a pure 2.5" to 3.5" SAS conversion, Icy Dock is proud to introduce the new MB982IP-1S-1 2.5" SAS/SATA to 3.5" SAS SSD & HDD Converter. The MB982IP-1S-1 is an addition to the already popular MB982 enterprise series, with an emphasis on industrial level SAS storage applications. This product is designed using the dimensions, connection locations, and mounting hole positions of a standard 3.5" SAS or SSD drive. The converter is designed specifically to be used for 2.5" SAS/SATA drives that are required in 3.5" SAS internal hard drive bays of tower and rackmount chassis, as well as with SAS backplanes or hot swap modules.

Introducing the ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB508SP-B 8-bay 2.5" drive cage for hard drives and SSDs, designed for high-density storage of 8x 2.5" SAS/SATA HDD/SSD from 5-15mm in 2x 5.25" CD/DVD optical drive bays, making it the densest drive cage available supporting full 15mm drives. Support for 15mm hard drives means enterprise SAS drives and high capacity drives are fully supported, which are used in applications requiring long-term reliable and fast data storage for archival and backup purposes. Two Mini-SAS HD connectors are used to connect all 8 drives, greatly reducing cable clutter over traditional SATA ports and improving reliability due to the interference reducing EMI shielding built into Mini-SAS HD cables. To further improve reliability and security, MB508SP-B uses a ruggedized full-metal construction meeting flammability requirements, as well as a large 80mm user-adjustable cooling fan to protect against drive failure from overheating.

Easily Hot Swappable

Designed for applications where regular drive swap may be required, the MB508SP-B EZ slide mini drive trays are hot-swappable, to allow for drives to be added and replaced easily, without restarting the whole machine. Hot-swap allows failed drives to be replaced in seconds, without any costly downtime to the rest of the system. To ensure a long life, the internal SAS/SATA connectors are rated to support up to 10,000 swapping cycles in each bay.

Highly Compatible EZ Slide Tray System

The EZ slide mini tray system supports full-height 2.5" mechanical hard drives and solid state drives, including high capacity SATA and SAS drives. SAS drives are used in enterprise applications such as long-term archival for their long lifespan, higher reliability, and faster rotational speeds up to 15,000 RPM for fast data access. All SAS drives are supported, including Seagate Exos, HGST Ultrastar C series, and Dell, HPE, and Toshiba SAS drives.

ToughArmor series trays are designed for maximum interoperability; the trays on MB508SP-B can be used with many other ToughArmor models, including the MB991 series and the MB994 series. This means drives can easily be transported and used in other systems, without having to reattach drives to another tray.

For drive security, the eagle-hook lock system on the tray makes sure your hard drives will not eject when not needed.

Two Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8643) ports connect all 8 drives, vastly reducing cable clutter and adding compatibility for a larger selection of RAID controller cards. Compared to SATA, Mini-SAS HD can travel further without signal degradation, keeping your data transfers clear from the static noise that can result in data loss.

Powerful Cooling

Featuring a large, powerful 80mm fan with high, low, and off settings that is designed to remove as much heat as possible from your drives rapidly. The fan works together with ventilation holes amply placed throughout the enclosure, ensuring drives run only at their optimal temperatures.
