  • Plugable USB C to HDMI Adapter, Dual Monitor 4K 60Hz for Apple Mac M1/M2/M3 - DisplayLink Multiple Displays for Thunderbolt Macbook or iMac, Driver Required (USBC-6950M)

Adding multiple screens to your work setup has been shown to dramatically increase productivity. The Plugable USB-C Dual 4K multi HDMI adapter (USBC-6950M) is designed to give you those productivity gains even if your computer doesn't natively support multiple displays - like base model M1, M2, and M3 Macs. Of course, the multi monitor adapter works just as well with Windows 10 and newer, and ChromeOS 100+ systems, too.

At the heart of this HDMI extender for dual monitors is a DisplayLink DL-6950 chipset. You'll need to download and install the DisplayLink drivers (manual installation on Mac; generally an automatic process on Windows machines), but once you do, you'll see the benefits this multiple monitor adapter provides. From a single Thunderbolt, USB4, or USB-C port, add two HDMI ports. It's a simple, straightforward way to connect two monitors to laptop, even to Macs that would otherwise only support one display. It should be noted that HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is not supported, so this adapter will not display content from streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu.

  • Plugable 7-in-1 USB C Docking Station Dual Monitor - Dual HDMI Dock is Compatible with Mac and Windows - Travel Dock USB4, Thunderbolt or USB-C, 100W PD, 2x HDMI, 1x USB-C, 1Gbps Ethernet, 1x USB 3.0, 1x SD Card

At first glance, you might think our new USB-C Dual HDMI Docking Station (USBC-6950PDZ) is just a simple USB-C travel hub for adding a couple of ports. But the moment you start connecting to the 2x HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, USB ports with charging, or the SD slot, you might feel differently. Windows and Mac laptops get a full desktop experience that only comes from a docking station.

There's a lot of big talk about the dock's size, but the first feature to focus on should be its HDMI port, both of them. The HDMI hub extends your display across two monitors with resolutions up to 4K60Hz.

For this laptop docking station, we used DisplayLink Technology. That means you can connect two monitors, no matter what full-featured USB-C-enabled laptop you're using, Windows or Mac-even an M1 or M2-powered MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

You will need to download the DisplayLink Manager application to get full functionality for macOS devices on this USB hub. On Windows machines, the required driver will download automatically through Windows Update.

A somewhat unique approach to powering a docking station, the USBC-6950PDZ doesn't have its own power supply. Instead, it uses the USB-C power cord that came with your laptop.

The docking station takes advantage of USB-C pass-through charging, here's how it works: find your laptop's power cord, plug it into the marked port on the USBC-6950PDZ, and now plug the docking station into your laptop.

The dual HDMI adapter will support up to a 100W power adapter, reserving up to 18W for itself. So if you have a 100W adapter, your computer will receive 82W of power. However, the computer may charge slower through the docking station than when directly connected to the power supply.

This particular unit is just a docking station with 2 HDMI ports that happens to be slim, and incredibly portable.

For those who do need to take it with them, this USB hub is ready. Because it uses the laptop power adapter you're carrying, it saves the weight and space of a second power brick.

  • Plugable 4 HDMI Multi Monitor Adapter, USB 3.0 or USB C to HDMI Adapter - Compatible with Windows and Mac, Quad Adapter Supports 1920x1080@60Hz

The USB-C or USB 3.0 to Quad HDMI Adapter (USBC-768H4) changes that. Now you can add four HDMI screens through a single USB-C or USB 3.0 port-all with a sharp 1920x1080@60Hz image, even on M1 / M2 / M3 Macs. This multiple monitor adapter still manages all of the heavy lifting involved with delivering your video signal across four monitors. But it's how the adapter handles the task of parceling the pixels across your screens that's interesting. A lot of adapters rely on USB-C features not available on all systems. The USBC-768H4 uses a Silicon Motion chipset and a software driver to accomplish the task. From a user perspective, there isn't much of a difference. Unless, of course, you happen to be on an M1 / M2 / M3 Mac. Those particular computers don't support more than 1 Alt Mode display so the standard approach wouldn't work. A driver download is required. On Windows machines, the update is automatic though we do recommend installing the driver manually. On a Mac, this is accomplished through the InstantView App. And remember, though they offer similar functionality, the DisplayLink driver won't work with this adapter. A USB to HDMI adapter for monitor expansion opens up new levels of productivity. Dedicate an entire screen to spreadsheets, email, stocks, or anything else you're working on. The USBC-768H4 adapts to your style of multitasking. Use it to expand to one, two, or three screens. It works just as well if you aren't tapping into all four ports. It doesn't have an external power source or an unwieldy cord to manage. What it does have is a flat cable that tucks into the bottom of the unit when not in use.
